Editorial, January 2018 | Ode to Emminent poets and Writers of Uttarakhand

This issue may have been the last one for The Doon Mozaic, Volume 3 but, our aspiration for the last one is same as for the initials. The issue themed on the eminent writers and poets of the region of Kumaon and Garhwal is one of our key issues aspired by our team for past one and half years. We tried much time to bring forth this interesting part of finding the induction of a writer’s life into his or her writings. This issue should be considered as the first slab of the chapter.

Uttarakhand is not only known for its beautiful scenic Himalayas but also for its native people. From this eternal Himalayas came the greatest writers and poets of all time. Among these were both fluent in Hindi, Kumouni, Garhwali, and English. But a crucial aspect is that they all united to project the region as the birthland of the greatest “Green Authors”. Their work not only depicted the serenity of the Himalayas but also the ground zero problems of the citizens of Uttarakhand. Be it Girish Tewari “Girda”, Ruskin Bond, Mahadevi Verma, Jim Corbett, Sumitranandan Pant, Deven Mewari and many more gems toiled to bring the state of Uttarakhand at the world’s orient.

The stories covered contains the perspective of our two months of research works on different writings done by the authors and writers. Aby concept described in the columns are the columnists and their perception of the personality.

I hope you will enjoy this issue. The Doon Mozaic, Volume 3 will be at our website www.doonmozaic.com from mid of March 2018.

Happy Reading!
